Before beginning let’s go over the most important places to visit in town.
- The Church of Santa Maria de los Ángeles.

- The King’s castle.
- The Sanctuary of La Virgen de la Barquera.

- Natural Park of Oyambre.
If you go along the coast in the direction of the Basque Country for 15 minutes, you will find Comillas, which is an important place where you can find buildings like El Palacio de Sobrellano and its chapel, the Pontifical University and of course, the famous catalan architec Gaudi’Capricho.
If you continue travelling, an unmissable stop 20 minutes from Comillas is Santillana del Mar, it is popularly known as the town of the three lies, because it is neither saint, nor flat, nor does it have sea.
In 1889 it was declared an historic artistic centre. Nearby the Altamira Cave can be found, it is an historic monument. Since July 2013 Santillana del Mar forms part of the net of “the most beautiful villages in Spain”.
Only 10 minutes from Santillana del Mar you can find Suances which is worth a visit to the fishing port and to the beaches of La Concha, La Ribera and La Riberuca. On the other side there is a small point where you can find Los Locos Beach, well loved by surfers.
If you continue to the East of Cantabria for an hour you can find Santoña, Laredo and Castro Urdiales.
Returning to San Vicente de la Barquera, you go into the area of the Saja-Nansa which belongs to San Vicente and you will find thousands of beautiful places to visit: the Soplao Cave, the museum of La Ferrería de Cades where the work iron and the villages of Tudanca, Carmona, Cabuérniga and Barcena Mayor.
Let’s not forget Liébana which is 40 km in the Pics of Europe, where there is a cable car in Fuente Dé which goes to the top.
35 km towards Asturias, you can find Llanes and 90 km away Covadonga Lakes.
